The mythical mountain chain

The mountain zone of Aralar comprises an area of 208 km2 shared by the provinces of Navarre and Gipuzkoa. A large karstic massif in the Navarrese Northwest which alternates a landscape of lapiaz, blind valleys, caves and abysses with other more serene of meadows always green and beech of infinite colors.

You can access to this mountainous zone from the North from Lekunberri, Iribas and Astitz, and from the South from Uharte-Arakil. This part of the Navarrese Pyrenees offers unforgettable scenes in every season of the year and many opportunities to enjoy its magic: trails of varying levels of difficulty, gentle ascents to natural lookouts, dolmens witnesses of distant lives, caves that bring us closer to the heart of Aralar, etc.

The ascension to the peaks of the mountains of Aralar ranges fans to the mountain; the route alternates oak and beech. We highlight as most emblematic peaks of Aralar: Irumugarrieta (1431 m.), Balerdi (1197 m.), Txindoki (1346 m.), Putxerri (1299 m.), Tutturre (1281 m.).
